So.... I've been busy this past week with soapmaking.... I don't know what my obsession has become because I make more than just soap LOL. I was running around like crazy on Saturday trying to take pictures of my new soaps in an artistic way for Bramble Berry's photography contest on Facebook. I will most likely NOT win anything simply because I do not own a fancy camera- all of the pictures on my site are taken with either my phone or iPad. I edit them in the free online photo editor called Gimp (click to get there, I've been using it for years). So, the photos aren't as crisp as a lot of the entries, but I tried being as creative as I could be and took advantage of my sunniest room to snap the photos. I am particularly fond of both of the photos in this post because in the upper photo, I used a new technique of swirling that I think turned out great, and in the lower photo I used my custom made logo stamp, painted it, and I think it went well with the overall scheme of swirling/colors. Both soaps are now featured on the Curing Rack and will be available in February.
I am currently embarking on a new project today. As you are now aware, every month I roll out a gemstone soap. So... today I am going to work on March's gemstone, which is Aquamarine. I'm going to try a blend of three techniques, and I'm very positive about the outcome. The problem is, I still haven't picked out a fragrance. I am torn between a couple of fragrances, of which do not have many reviews on cold process behavior. I really don't like flying blind, so I may have to research a little more. I need this soap to behave and not discolor! Anyway, that's that. I need to go research!
By the way, I am really trying to update the Fragrance list- the quick list and the brochure as well as the catalog. My goal was to do this every 3-4 months, but alas, I haven't done it since last year. I am in the process now, so hopefully it will be done soon.
